Find the right London City transfer

The business traveller's airport, that's London City Airport. Located in the Royal Docks of East London, and closer to Canary Wharf and the City than any other commercial airport. Passengers at this airport often come with a meeting in the diary, not a suitcase filled with two weeks' worth of luggage.

Each reservation involves the scheduled flight and pickup time changed to reflect the landing time, the chauffeur who greets you at arrivals with your name board, and one hour of complimentary waiting. Child restraints can be requested.

The transfers go to Canary Wharf, the City, Docklands, ExCeL, Greenwich, Stratford and Westminster. The transfers extend throughout the whole city, but for the flights departing from other airports, the comparisons between the airport transfers in London are provided for all six airports.

Where you are met, and what it costs

The access charges apply in both ways in London City airport, and the access charges are different. The access charges for the forecourt of the terminal are limited to short drops only, charged per minute with the minimum time limit and hard maximum limit of how long you are permitted to stay. The collections will be made from the pick up point in the designated Short Stay parking area.

That is included in your price, but it is important to know, as during short business trips the access charges may represent a sizable percentage of the price of the transfer, covering just a few miles.

Please do not expect the driver to wait for you at the terminal entrance. The rank right there is used by licensed black taxis, while pre-booked vehicles pick up at the Short Stay area. With the meet and greet your chauffeur will be waiting for you at arrivals with the name board.

Business travel and onward journeys

The pattern at London City airport is quite different from other airports in London. Trips made to and from London City are usually brief, frequent, and organised around business meetings rather than holiday time; thus, the focus is more on the vehicle and punctuality rather than luggage room.

London City mainly operates short-haul flights, so for long-haul flights Heathrow is normally the choice. Those evaluating the options can compare their Heathrow airport transfers. On the opposite end of the spectrum, private aviation goes via Farnborough airport transfers.

These journeys will be booked in a similar manner and include Cardiff to London City connections, which cover the journey from South Wales.

Choosing your vehicle

The Business class is standard, with one case and a laptop bag each. The Standard class includes four seats, with Business XL being used for a party of people who travel together, while First or Executive takes care of the arrival.

Groups of delegates travelling to one site travel in different vehicles because five is the maximum per vehicle.
