Birmingham to Heathrow airport is 115 miles, mainly on the M40, and a key route among our long distance airport transfers from the Midlands. Birmingham airport is 8 miles from the city with a good European network. Therefore, this trip is made mainly for long-haul flights.
Traffic is a mix of business travellers and holidaymakers. Both usually arrange the return together as the point of arrival of a transatlantic flight is hardly a time to arrange transport.
Birmingham to Heathrow
Birmingham to Heathrow has no direct rail connection, so the real question is how well the alternative actually works.
By train, it's New Street to Euston, then across London to pick up the Elizabeth line - two changes and a cross-city leg on the Underground with your bags, whatever time your flight happens to be. A coach runs too, cheaper than the train but slower.
The car makes it one trip, front door to terminal. For a family with four suitcases, or an executive catching an early flight, there's little to weigh up.
The pickup location, the terminal, the date and time, and the flight number of the collection must be filled out. Booking both sections at once is standard practice on this route. Consider airport transfers in Birmingham for the local airport, Heathrow transfers for the terminal end, and Birmingham to Gatwick transfers for the southern route. The Heathrow drop off fee at the terminal and car parking cost on the return are all covered by the price. Birmingham's clean air zone charges only vehicles that do not meet the emissions requirements, and partner vehicles meet them.
There is a flight tracking on the inbound segment, with the pick up timed according to the flight arrival time and an additional 60-minute waiting period and a sign at the arrivals.
